Welcome * 1.1 About Good Shepherd School and Day Care Good Shepherd School and Day Care (Good Shepherd) was founded in 1991 by Reverend Nick and Caryn Kozel, as the DBA name of Dominion Educational Ministries, Inc. (DEMI). DEMI is a religious not-for-profit 50l(c)(3) Christian educational ministry. Since its foundation, thousands of Shenandoah Valley preschool and grade school children have passed through Good Shepherd's doors, learning about Christ and receiving child care aimed at helping them become lifetime learners. 1.2 Statement of Faith Good Shepherd School and Day Care is a ministry of Dominion Educational Ministries, Inc. (DEMI) is a religious 501(c) (3) organization, whose board oversees, guides, and directs its mission. While DEMI board members and the Good Shepherd School and Day Care staff may represent various branches of the Christian faith, they each affirm the following faith statements: We believe in God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit as distinct personalities with distinct roles, but one God. This One God is the creator and sustainer of the universe. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30). We believe the Bible, comprised of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the divinely inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God in its entirety, and that it is our final authority in matters of doctrine and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16 or 15-17; 2 Peter 1·:21). We believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Savior, the Son of God (John 10:33), who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin (Isaiah 7: 14, Matthew I :23, Luke 1 :35), lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26), died on a cross for our sins (John 19:17-18; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians I :7; Hebrews 2:9), and was raised from the grave (Matthew 27:63, 28:6; 1 Corinthians 15:4). He ascended to the right hand of God the Father where He intercedes for His people (Mark 16: 19; Hebrews 7:25; I John 2: 1 ). He will return as our victmious Lord (Acts I: 1 l; Romans 14:11; Philippians 2: 9-11-10.; Revelation 19:11). We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature; and that we are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and that only by God's grace and through faith alone we are saved (Ezekiel 36:25-27; John 3: 16-19; 5:24; Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; Ephesians 2: 8-10; Titus 3:5). We believe in the Universal Church as the spiritual body of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ; and in the necessity of regular attendance in locally organized churches for the nurture of Christians and their families by the ministry of the Word of God and sacraments (Matthew 28: 18-20; Acts 2:36-41; Ephesians 2:19-22; 4: 11-16; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12: 12-13; Galatians 3: 26-28.R· I Corinthians 11:23-26) 1.3 Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that the term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2: 18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Corinthians 6: I8; 7:2-5; Hebrews I 3:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Good Shepherd as a religious organization, and to provide a biblical role model to the Good Shepherd employees, students, and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Good Shepherd in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:22). We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3: 19-21; Romans l 0:9-1 0; l Corinthians 6:9-11 ). We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31 ). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Good Shepherd... 1.4 Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible "itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Good Shepherd's faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our board of directors is Good Shepherd's final interpretive authority on the Bible's meaning and application. 1.5 Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable, worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Ps 139). I hereby have read and abide by the above statement Thank you!
