Family at Work

Many Good Shepherd staff members describe it as “family!” Kimberly Lopez-Burns is one of them, and she is a great example of the twofold reason why. She is the Discovery head teacher at our Neff Avenue campus, and she came to us with her three sons. She came to us and discovered that Good Shepherd is a unique place - all staff children are tuition-free when a parent works for us!

Right now, Kimberly enjoys working with her youngest son in the Discovery Class. His brother is in our pre-school age Beginner Class. Kimberly’s oldest is in our grade school program, which extends through high school. Many of our staff members have utilized this latter program over the years, with many of them staying to graduate 12th grade! It is a great opportunity for mothers to provide a Christian education for their children. Kimberly also loves that she can interact with all three of her sons during the day, and that she knows that they are in a good environment.

Besides being with her family at work every day, Kimberly says that Good Shepherd is like “family at work.” She enjoys engaging with her fellow teachers, and relies on them for support. The relationships she has developed at Good Shepherd are very meaningful to her. The relationships her sons have developed with teachers and with other children are a blessing, too.

If you are interested in pursuing work with children - having fun with them and helping them learn - please give us a call! We might be just the place for you, especially if you would enjoy working around your own family and making new friends as well!
