From Little Books to Lifelong Lessons
Good Shepherd School and Day Care was founded over 30 years ago with a very specific belief: Children need three basic things - a solid education, quality care, and a loving environment. Our goal ever since Day 1 has been to provide these three elements of a healthy foundation for our students. Recently, it was a blessing to us to have a former GSS parent share their experience with us, and to hear that we had a positive impact in her family’s life in these three specific ways.
Grace Mills was a GSS parent for 8.5 years. Her family moved to the area and she was specifically looking for a faith-based day care for her children. Both of her lovely daughters spent their earlier years with us before they started school. Grace shared that her children were reading before Kindergarten, and that they were always so excited to pass their Little Books. She commented that her girls were so happy to come to school every day, and that she always considered them safe and well-cared for. She noted that, beyond academic skills, her daughters learned other important life skills, such as kindness and respect.
We are thankful for parents like Grace. Her story is an encouragement to us that we are meeting the needs of the families we serve, and that our vision about the importance of those needs is still holding true. Such GSS parents (especially after more than eight years!) feel like family. If you are looking for an environment like this for your child, or you know someone who is, please contact us! We have two locations in Harrisonburg, and one in Waynesboro, full of teachers committed to meeting these needs for your children.
